This was fun.
I used artrage and an image found online.
I drew the piece and then used the stencil function in Artrage to make a stencil of the whole image on the background layer then resized it to the correct size.
I used metallic, digital, crayons forthe piece and the paintroller for the background.
I really love the result!
Been getting a bit more into digital drawing lately because I've been sick and unable to get all the gear out, the laptop and tablet do it fine!

The prompt to draw a horse gave me an opportunity to have a bit of a play around with Artweaver. I enjoyed learning new things that this little program can do.
I used impasto and oil brushes on the horse and the nozzle tool for the background.
Even though its not anatomically correct, I like it. Its kinda horsey.

I was impressed with it.

Much better than Painter Essentials, Like the poor mans version of Painter only FREE! Download it and have a go.

I think the frogs head is a bit small but if he is falling backwards...It might be right?? How would you suggest that he is falling backwards?...any ideas.

I had a little trouble coming up with ideas for this one but eventually settled on this butane torch.

Probably not exactly correct as its from my memory/imagination.

It hasn't scanned very well and the colours are a little brighter in real life.

This little candle was given to me by my little niece.

She bought it herself and because she knows I love frogs, she bought me a frog.

Holiday Sketches.

Here are some sketches I did while in Noosa last week.

Lovely place to visit!

Drawn with a black pen and coloured with watercolour paints.

The sketchbook doesn't accept water very well at all and is only a 6 x 4 sketchbook so is difficult to hold. Never mind, I enjoyed the sketching anyway!

1: The quick snack ordered on the Virgin Blue flight to Maroochydore. Diet coke, crackers and cheese and some pringles! Just enuogh to get me there!

2: First morning on a walk to the beach, I came across this bush turkey.

Soon learned that they are the locals.3: This is the view of Coolum beach from the walk at Coolum.
4: I bought a postcard from Noosa with a frog photo on it and here is the drawing of the frog!
5: This is the lamp in the living area of the appartment we stayed in.

Great place to stay, the Sebel in Noosa, Right on Hastings street, a very short walk to the main beach in Noosa!

6: I needed some flip flops to wear on my morning beach walks so I could whip them off and carry them while I walked barefoot along the beach!

The walks were lovely and I was surprised by the amount of people already at the beach at 7 am!

I bought these thongs in Hastings street, Noosa!7: I had a surfing lesson while I was in Noosa, something I WILL be doing again! Loved it!

Heaps of touristy shops and eateries!

Great place to visit and shop for souvineers.

I wanted to go there to see the candy being made at the "Candy Shop" and of course sample the ware!

15: The lamposts in Montville are very ornate and this s a drawing of one.

16: Being a fair skinned gal, I need plenty of this stuff!

Finally had a chance to complete some EDM challenges.

Here is #141 - Draw something with bristles. This is my dog Mollies squeaky ball thing.

This is a stuffed toy version of "Remy" from the animated movie "Ratatoulle`" I picked it up outof one of those claw/crane machines at an arcade at the Crown Casino in Melbourne!

Great fun winning it and great fun drawing it!

I saw the movie the week befrore I got this and was quite pleased when I got it!

These are all drawn in my cream coloured sketch book with a black pen and coloured with watercolour.

This is my effort for the "deep sea" theme.
I did a quick sketch from a photo from online and then painted it using ArtRage.
I put a layer over the top in dark blue and changed the opacity to try and emulate the water but I think it just made it cloudy!
Never mind, a good time was had by all!!

This is an ATC I painted for an ATC exchange but it definitely passes for this challenge.
I used watercolour pencil, acrylic, thin coloured markers and thick black marker on watercolour card.
I love the way it came out and may find it hard to part with!!

EDM Chellenge #104 - draw some salt and pepper shakers. These are some little frog themed shakers Iwas given. I don't know why the bottom one looks so sad, perhaps he's the salt! Black pen and watercolour pencil. EDM Challenge #105 - Draw scissors. These are my trusty fiscars scissors I use all the time. They are covered in sticky bits of glue, paper and tape and I badly need a new pair. Great scissors for detail work! Black pen and watercolour pencil.

EDM Challenge #78 - Draw a souvineer of a place. This is a little kit I bought from the "stitches and craft" show a few years ago now. It stands about 5" tall. It came with all the bits and the material for the clothes and duck and a pattern. It was really cool to do and I am yet to find another craft kit this cool!! Black pen and watercolour.

This is a water colour pencil drawing of my dog Molly. The eyes and ears are too small but it looks surprisingly similar to miss Molly!!

This was an interesting challenge.

It made me think way outside the square.

I enjoyed stretching my thinking muscles and coming up with this little drawing.

I haven't been doing a great deal of sketching lately but managed to do this challenge.

It was way too hot to walk on this (I have it set up outside under our back verandah) so I sat down on the comfy chair of the outdoor setting and drew it instead.

It soon grew too hot to even sit there so I hightailed it indoors.

The proportions aren't quite right.

I think it should be longer that it is tall.

It is done in black pen and coloured with watercolour.

This is gorgeous. I love the way the watercolours mixed and stained down the side of the frog. Its feet are too big and its head is too small but I love it anyway! Black pen and watercolours

It Can be a little difficult to find something stimulating to draw sometimes. I settled on this tiny little stuffed dog that sit with a small collection of miniature stuffed toys I have from my childhood. It came out looking a little cute. Black pen and watercolours.

EDM #101 - Draw soap!

This one really was a bit of a challenge. I decided to do the watercolour painting with just a fine pencil line for the first one to see if I could actually give it any dimention this way. Not very successful but interesting and the second one was done with the usual black pen and watercolour.
The soap, taken from Crown Towers, melbourne, last time we stayed there, is still in its wrapper.

I have made a promise to myself that I will draw more. I have been doing well so far and have been using the challenges to get me going.

Here is Challenge #52 - draw a dog. I drew this sketch of my dog Molly.

This is Challenge #94 - Draw a spoon. The reflection of the spoon was visible as well as the shadow.

EDM Challenge #98 - Draw Anything. I decided that this picture of one of my many frog fridge magnets would fit the bill.

Lastly here is EDM Challenge #90 - Draw something sweet. Nectarines are sweet! All Drawings are done using a black pen and water colour pencils as well as water colours.

I have wanted one of these for ever!(well for a few years now anyway) and my darling gave me this one for Christmas. I love it! I have just about labelled everything in the house (If I can just find that cat!) Its a bit of a wonky drawing done with black pen in my sketchbook with just a little water colour.

A holiday with a difference, Here are some sketches from my sketchbook done while we were away on our recent cruise adventure.

1: Firstly, here are some drawings of passengers at the airport and on the plane.
2: Then, this is from inside the suite we had. Great room! The view from 2 angles.
3: From the balcony of our suite, this is the view of the church, a single yacht, and another of some boats at Lifou.
4: We went on a tour in Lifou to the Cliffs of Jokin. This hut was at the lookout at the cliffs.

5: The beach scene here is the beach at Lifou.

6: This chair is on the balcony of the suite and then their is the view as I looked back at the ship from out in the bay in Vila. 7: Here we have the stalls on the dock at Vila, locals all waiting to sell you some souvenirs. We went on a tour to some gardens and I drew the bird, the dog and the plant there.
8: I went snorkeling at Vila. I loved that so much, here are some pictures os some of the fish I saw. I drew these from Photos.

Mallacoota Madness 2006

These are some drawings from my sketchbook I did while we were away in Mallacoota, November 2006.
We visit our friends at the caravan park here every year.

1: The first one is our friends boat, at his mooring.
2: Then there is a rower that was rowing past on the lake, that one was hard to draw because once he was gone.....he was gone!
3: Here are 2 fishermen in their little tinnie trying to catch the big one!
4: This is a little sketch I did of 2 small children by the lake.

5: This sketch is of the tree in front of our friends caravan. They book the same site every year. Its a great big tree that gives heaps of shade.

6: One of the fishing friends around the caravan park is Barney, one of the loveliest fella's you could ever meet, he is here every year with his equally lovely wife Betty. This is Barney fishing from the moorings.

7: This is a quick sketch of another of the regular site folk. We see Linda and her husband every year, another 2 of the beautiful people!

8: This was one of the Van folk doing a little birdwatching? ( I think he's trying to figure out where the boats are catching the most fish!) He didn't know I was drawing him and he was hard to capture because he kept moving!

9: Trying to capture the seagulls is always a challenge for me. I think I did pretty well this year!

EDM Challenge #79 - Draw an ear.

These are some ears I drew. I am still working on learning how to draw portraits and these are exercises from the book I am using. They are both done using colour pencils, Derwent colours and the colour one is highlighted and burnished with prisma colors.

During the week I had the wonderful opportunity to attend a drawing session at "The Butterfly Club" in South Melbourne.
Here, The models dress in burlesque clothing and pose for us, the sketchers. I have been wanting to do this type of sketching for such a long time and it was fantastic to actually get the chance. Tonight's model was "Sparkarella".
Here are a few of the better sketches I came up with. My materials are black Uniball pen and charcoal in a A4 sketch book.
These drawings also qualify for 2 of the EDM challenges. Challenge 36 - Draw out in public and challenge 72 - draw somewhere new.!
I will definitely be going to another one of these! Great fun!

These are the latest daily drawing prompts that I have drawn. Not necessarily the latest prompts but the latest drawings! All drawn from my imagination/memory except for the griffin which was drawn from clipart. Drawn with black pen and coloured with watercolours. The lego and apple are coloured with prismacolor pencils.

I have not been doing daily drawings for the last few weeks as I have been busy doing other artistic things.
I thought I would get these up and start doing a few more these coming weeks.

I didn't get alot of time for drawing this week but I did come up with these few. They are all drawn with a black pen and coloured with watercolour pencils. I have a bit of a thing for the watercolour pencils this week and playing with layering colours together to try to create dimension.

1. For the prompt - Draw a treasure chest, I have drawn this wooden trunk with coins in it. I tried to give it an old worlde kind of look but I think it looks a bit more western. I think the coins came out pretty successfully.
2. For this next prompt - Draw a doughnut, I have well, drawn a doughnut, or two. Again, layering colours to try to create dimension. I was going to do a chocolate one with the pink one but, I thought that would be a little too much brown!
3. This next drawing was just for a little fun. Its from the front of a cheap greeting card. The shell came out all wrong but I still like the way the turtle came out on the whole.4. Lastly, This one was draw for the Prompt - Draw something to do with Bees. This kind of came out looking like a hornets nest...or not, actually, I don't know what a hornets nest looks like! Ok, Its a Bee Condo!

This drawing is in the style of a set of ATCs I did last year. I actually got the idea from some cushion I made for the couch, the material has a picture of a fish with lots of bright colours that I love, so, styled on these, I drew this poor hooked fishy. Drawn with black pen and coloured with watercolour paints.
